Analysis of China’s Centralized Procurement Procedures and Core Elements for Non-immunization program vaccines

This study was conducted by Prof Weibing Wang and his team from Fudan University and published in Chinese Journal of Epidemiology. The study analyzed t factors associated with timely vaccination of pertussis-containing vaccines in children born in Shanghai from 2019 to 2023. The results showed that the average vaccination coverage rate was as high as 94.71%-99.53%, but the timely vaccination rate decreased with the increase of doses. The study concludes that pertussis-containing vaccine（DTaP-Hib and DTaP-IPV-Hib）are commonly used and substitute the NIP DTaP vaccine in Shanghai, with high coverage and timely vaccination rates, but some children experience delayed or missed vaccinations, warranting ongoing attention.

This study was conducted by Prof Xiaohua Ying and his team from Fudan University and published in International Journal for Equity in Health. This study provides insights into the current state of financing for non-immunization vaccines in China. Through interviews with 55 stakeholders from government department related to health and finance, the study identified challenges and opportunities in financing, including high out-of-pocket costs, sustainability of local fiscal support, and potential future support from health insurance. The study recommends strengthening public financial management and centralized procurement to improve vaccine equity and achieve broader vaccination coverage.

This study was conducted by Professor Xiaohua Ying and his team from Fudan University and published in Human Vaccines & Immunotherapeutics. This study aims to explore the complexity of decision-making for non-National Immunization Program (non-NIP) vaccines (voluntary and self-paid) in China, and how effective communication between healthcare providers and recipients can promote vaccine uptake. The research integrates perspectives from both providers and recipients to identify strategies that facilitate vaccination and analyze their underlying mechanisms, emphasizing the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration and sustained motivation in vaccination decision-making.
