This collaborative study takes the perspective of the recipients of vaccine services to understand the specific processes and experiences of different families in urban and rural areas (families of rural children left behind, families of rural children not left behind, families of urban local children, and families of urban migrant children) in the vaccination process and their issues, to explore the possible influencing factors of the issues, and to provide countermeasures and suggestions for improving the vaccination process for different families and reducing the burden on families.
1) Systematically reviewed the evidence related to the immunization rate and influencing factors for left-behind and migrant children in China;
2) Completed qualitative data collection about the immunization process and experiences and quantitative data on the immunization knowledge, willingness, experience, and cost for immunization families in the fieldwork sites in Henan and Zhejiang Province;
3) Compiled and analyzed relevant data to provide recommendations and strategies for improving the immunization experience and reducing the financial burden on families;
4) Published the study results in the special Infectious Diseases of Poverty issue.
